How to keep IT workers happy, Part 3

Show some respect. Seriously, the people maintaining and improving your IT infrastructure are not trained monkeys. They are people just like you. They have studied for many years and are experts in their field. They are doing everything they can for yourbenefit.
If you have a meeting with someone, you should arrive on time. Being late indicates that you don’t value the time of the people who you are making wait. What makes your time more valuable than theirs? They have jobs too. They have projects to finish. They have work to do for you.
And God help you if you don’t arrive at the meeting at all without informing everyone beforehand. That is the height of incivility and anyone who sits around waiting for you is, in my opinion, fully justified to make you wait just as long in the next meeting. Or perhaps they should just put together a report about how long you screw around on Facebook?
